The magic of the circus returns to Haría for another year

‘MalabHaría’ brings the magic world of the circus back to the north of Lanzarote for the 13th year this coming January from 2nd till 4th.

This International Circus Festival is set to delight audiences with four large-scale shows and two large circus galas jam packed with a whole host of top performers showing off their amazing skills.

The festival brings together 18 companies from 12 countries and a total of 42 artists who are ready to get more than 3,000 spectators gasping during this annual festival.

Top quality programme

Three of the shows presented at this year’s ‘MalabHaría’ are free and will be held in Haría’s main square during the day, while the three night-time shows will be held in the sports hall, which will be especially converted into a large theatre for the occasion. Tickets cost just five euros.

This modern-day circus features vertical and acrobatic feats from companies like Gropcirco, Xampanito, Kicirke and El Fedito who wow with their full-scale spectacles combining circus acts, theatre, clowns and juggling.

Ringmaster extraordinaire, and host of the two circus shows, is the Great Dimitri who will be introducing acts such as Oskar Mauricio and his aerial straps, juggling with Endika Salazar, María Cavagnero and her cyr wheel and the acrobatics of Du’k’to. Also delighting the audiences will be Daniel Esteban with his acroball, Rebecca Renninson and her lyre and Jesus Forniés, whose skill with soccer balls is unmatched.

During the evening performance on 4th January, the icing on the proverbial cake comes in the form of well-known television star, Cucko the Clown, juggler Thomas Hoeltzel, and vertical rope artist, Alfa Marks, not forgetting comic hat-juggling mayhem courtesy of Lorenzo Mastropietro.

The evening rounds off with Eleni Anastasaki’s ball balancing, hula-hoop and accordion, show, the impressive aerial acrobatics of the Two Filles Duo and, straight from Peru, the Vitalys Duo, whose incredible balancing act will have you on the edge of your seats.

Tickets for this year’s International Circus Festival are already on sale at Haría town hall’s Youth Department, open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until tickets run out. For more information check out http://malabharia.com/.
