The trend for craft beers is at an all-time high on the island with three breweries producing their own artisan beers. Malpeis in Tinajo, Los Aljibes in Tahiche and Nao in Arrecife are all making their own versions of this ancient versatile drink.
These new craft breweries are hoping to win over consumers and compete alongside the multinationals in the hops and barley industry.
Lanzarote producers got on board with the world-wide trend for artisan beers and opened the first ‘brewpubs’ on the island in 2016. This concept meant opening their doors to the public, inviting them to see the brewing process and sample the different types of beers produced.
You’ll have the perfect opportunity to find out more about Lanzarote’s craft beers at the VIII Food and Wine Festival ‘Taste Lanzarote’ which is taking place on 24th and 25th November in Teguise. Cheers!
