Carnival in Lanzarote

Puerto del Carmen will celebrate its ‘Bewitched’ Carnival between the 15th and the 18th of February.

The diurnal Carnival will be on Sunday, the 18th at the Plaza del Varadero, in La Tiñosa, and the expected Gran Coso Carnavalero, where thousands of visitors will crowd the Avenida de las Playas, will be on the afternoon of Saturday, February 17.

Carnival is a time of riotous fun and revelry and provides a wonderful excuse to escape from monotonous daily routine, ditch our everyday attire and have some incredible fun.

The carnival is defined as a public celebration that takes place immediately before the Christian Lent, with a date variable that can range from late January until early March depending on the year. This festival combines some elements that make it unmistakable, as costumes, parades and festivities on the street. It was also well known to some festivals of a similar nature at any stage of the year.

Despite many of the big differences that presents its celebration throughout the world, a common characteristic is to be a period of permissiveness and some slippage, but always with a cordial attitude.
